TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Swansea! This is the Swansea Scoop - the local newsletter that’s like autocorrect actually helping instead of nearly ruining your life 😄

The school holidays are nearly over and the sun’s started to ghost us, but there are still loads of end-of-summer events packed into the next week across Swansea - from food and walking festivals to truck pulling and a retro movie screening where tickets cost just 61p.

Whatever you’re up to, have a good one and I’ll catch you on Wednesday!

Andrew.

Mali Hâf - Live in Swansea

Rising Celtic-pop star Mali Hâf brings her spellbinding live show to The Bunkhouse on Saturday 4th October 2025.

A proud Welsh Wiccan and one of the most exciting new voices in Welsh music, Mali weaves mysticism, soaring vocals, and ethereal pop melodies into performances that feel like pure sonic witchcraft.

Praised by critics as “an absolute delight to watch” (Clash) and “one of those I was there moments” (Under The Radar), she’s fast becoming an unmissable force on the live circuit.

Don’t miss the chance to see Mali Hâf up close before she’s selling out stages everywhere.

WEDNESDAY'S SCOOP (ICYMI) 🦢

If you were in town back in 2009, you might still remember it - the day Swansea went blue. Literally.

This week, we looked back at the great Smurf invasion of Swansea - the costumes, the chaos, and the Guinness World Record attempt that turned a long lost nightclub into one, big, sweaty, blue mess.

THE DIGEST 📰

🌊 Plans for 50 affordable homes near the Loughor Estuary have been paused after concerns that nutrient pollution is damaging protected habitats and water quality.

🌱 Swansea Council has installed new rain gardens in Sandfields to reduce flooding, improve walking and cycling links, and boost urban biodiversity.

🏬 Strip-out work has begun at Swansea’s former Debenhams store as the council prepares the building for two major retailers and a leisure operator set to open in 2026.

🏉 After closing in July due to financial troubles, Mumbles’ Underhill Hub - including its café and sports facilities - will reopen on September 1st.
