35 Places to Celebrate New Year's Eve in Swansea 🥳

Plus: Christmas Dinner Delivery, Boxing Day Dip, Gavin & Stacey Watch Party

Good morning, Swansea! This is the Swansea Scoop. The local newsletter that’s like getting a lie in on Christmas morning.

We’re well into the home straight to Christmas this week, followed by the no-man’s land between Boxing Day and the end of the year. So, unsurprisingly, it’s a quiet week on the events front in Swansea over the next 7 days.

Whatever you’re up to - partying, travelling, or taking it easy, have a great Christmas and I’ll catch you on Wednesday (Christmas Day!) for a festive edition of the Swansea Scoop that celebrates a local Swansea icon 🎅

Let’s get to it.

Andrew.

Wednesday’s Scoop (In Case You Missed It)

The weather’s been very mild this winter, but wind the clock back to 1982 and it was a completely different story, Swansea was hit with blizzard conditions and some of the coldest temperatures in living memory.

THE DIGEST

Credit: Swansea Council

💡 Swansea Council has completed a £400,000 project to install over 300 energy-efficient LED lighting bollards along Swansea Bay promenade. Each bollard will cost just £15 per year to light up.

🏉 The Ospreys have announced their return to St Helen's stadium by winter 2025. Swansea Council has approved a redevelopment project that includes a new 4G pitch, a refurbished clubhouse, and a training barn.

🌊 Almost half of Mumbles Prom will reopen to walkers and cyclists this Christmas, with 70% of the coastal protection project now complete. Enhancements like wider paths, greenery, and lighting will be finished by Easter.

NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS

Can you believe 2025 is just around the corner? It feels like only yesterday that I told myself I must buy a new calendar, but didn’t actually get around to it until February. Missing two months did make it a very cheap purchase, though - so every cloud and all that.

If you’re planning to celebrate on New Year’s eve, I’ve found dozens of events going on in Swansea, from drinks and DJs, to special sit-down meals and family parties.
