TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Swansea! This is the Swansea Scoop - the local newsletter that’s like finding a parking space and an empty bench in Mumbles. Miracles do happen. 😇

This week, there’s everything from wellbeing and robot-building to painting goats, country music, and wrestling at the Patti Pavilion. Basically, a regular end-of-August week in Swansea.

Whether you're pretending summer’s not over or frantically cramming in activities with the kids, have a good one and I’ll catch you on Sunday.

Andrew.

Swansea’s Loudest Beer Fest Returns 🍺

The Rock & Hammer Festival lands at Hangar 18 Music Venue on Saturday August 30th with hand-picked ales, craft beers, ciders, and gins from breweries across the UK - the kind you won't find everywhere else in Swansea.

There are two ticket options: £5 entry if you want to pay as you go, or a £30 all-inclusive option that includes entry and 10 drink tokens for pints, cans, and spirits.

As well as loads of drinks, there’ll be great live music all day - including sets from Cancel the Transmission and headliners Celtic Pride.

Hangar 18 is a fully air-conditioned venue with plenty of seating, so you and your mates can settle in and enjoy every minute.

WEDNESDAY'S SCOOP (ICYMI) 🦢

26 years ago this summer, Swansea played host to a huge outdoor gig that would go down in local folklore. The sun was out, the beer was flowing, and for many it was a coming of age experience they would never forget.

This week, relive that heat-soaked day through photos and memories of the Stereophonics’ Morfa Stadium show in Swansea.

THE DIGEST 📰

🏥 Swansea Bay Health Board has submitted plans for a major Morriston Hospital expansion, including a new Critical Care Centre and Life Sciences Institute.

🚔 A partnership between Swansea BID and South Wales Police led to the conviction of a prolific graffiti vandal in the city centre.

🚲 A new cycle path in Pontarddulais has been approved despite objections over privacy, tree loss, and one particularly noisy dog.

🛝 A new Mumbles seafront play area has opened as part of Swansea Council’s £26m sea defence and promenade upgrade.

📱 A new history trail has been added to Swansea’s free Tawe Trails app, giving locals even more reason to wander and explore the city’s industrial past.
