TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Swansea! This is the Swansea Scoop - the local newsletter that's like eating Easter Egg chocolate - it tastes the same, but somehow better 🥰

It’s the Easter Holidays, which means the first of two weeks packed with egg hunts, bunny meet-ups, and enough chocolate treats to keep a small child spinning in circles until approximately June 😄 I’ve rounded up the best of the bunch below.

And before you collapse in a chocolate-induced coma on Sunday, there’s tons more to enjoy across Swansea - everything from a Big Food Fest in the city centre, a Good Friday Bash at Gower Brewery, two evenings of fantastic live comedy, discussions of the paranormal at Y Storfa, and more.

Whatever you’re up to, have a good one and I’ll catch you on Wednesday!

Andrew.

P.S. A big hello to the more than 250 new subscribers who’ve joined us this week! 👋 We’re closing in on the big 10K, so please forward the Scoop to your friends and family and ask them to subscribe free!

Gower Like You've Never Seen It, Yours to Take Home

There's a little art gallery tucked away in Mumbles that's well worth finding.

Bulljam is the studio and gallery of Swansea artist David Marchant, who specialises in bold, textured oil paintings of the Gower coast and local landmarks - all bursting with vivid colour.

David has exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Mall Gallery in London, and every painting starts not in a studio but out on the Gower itself, painted on location.

Pop in, browse the prints, originals, clothing, cards, and much more - there’s something for every budget.

Can’t get to Mumbles? Order online at bulljam.co.uk. Want something made just for you? David takes commissions too.

📍 Find Bulljam Gallery at 2 Queens Road, Mumbles, SA3 4AN | Open Mon–Sat, 10 AM–5 PM

WEDNESDAY'S SCOOP (ICYMI) 🦢

Most people know Pennard Castle as a ruin on a clifftop - a great photo spot above Three Cliffs Bay on Gower.

But it has a darker story - one that locals have told about this place for centuries - a wedding feast, a midnight curse, and a sandstorm so violent it was said to have stripped the beaches of Ireland bare.

This week, we tell the story of Gower fairies - the Verry Folk - and how they allegedly brought a castle to its knees.
