Good morning, Swansea! This is the Swansea Scoop, the local newsletter that’s recovering after a week that turned the city into the surface of the actual sun 🫠
Back to this week, and there’s everything from a 1980s festival at Singleton Park to swift-spotting in Penlan - plus a shanty yard boogie, Gower Open Studios, the chance to climb the tower at Swansea Minster, and tons more!
Whatever you're up to, have a good one and I'll catch you on Wednesday!
Andrew.
P.S. More than 11,000 Swansea locals read the Scoop! Know someone who’d enjoy it? Forward this email to them and ask them to subscribe for free.

GradCon is coming to Swansea next week 👩🎓
If you're graduating this year, or you graduated a while back and are still figuring out what's next, you need to hear about GradCon South Wales.
It's a free event at the Albert Hall on Craddock Street over two days, Wednesday July 1st and Thursday July 2nd - and dozens of employers will be there actively looking to hire graduates from the region.
Each day is aimed at different graduates:
Wednesday covers arts, business, law, education and creative subjects, with employers exhibiting including Swansea Council, JCP Solicitors and Swansea University.
Thursday's STEM Day brings in names like Admiral, National Grid and Novomorphic among many more.
There'll also be talks, workshops, free professional headshots, and street food available to purchase from the Albert Hall’s vendors.

WEDNESDAY'S SCOOP (ICYMI) 🦢

A giant steel arch sits propped up on Swansea's seafront cycle path - all that remains of the original Slip Bridge, taken down more than twenty years ago and never put back.
Despite that, a dedicated group of residents has spent years campaigning for its return. To understand why, you have to go back over a century, to when this stretch of sand was one of the busiest seaside resorts in Wales.

🏘️ A row of long-empty shops on High Street, Dyfatty has officially launched as Dyfatty Junction - a new community-focused hub.
⛰️ Earthworks are now underway on Kilvey Hill itself to prepare for the downhill luge karting tracks, with tree clearance carried out on ecological advice.
